'The man who could sit under the shade of his own vine, with his wife and children about him, and the ripe clusters hanging within their reach, and not feel the highest enjoyment, is incapable of happiness and does not know what the word means. James Busby Father of the Australian Wine Industry |

FIVE STAR Reserve Hunter Valley Chardonnay Reserve Hunter Valley Chardonnay 2008 Bright pale green; a model of restraint and finesse, the citrus and white stone fruit flavours having as much cool climate as warm; the new French oak used in fermentation and maturation has simply added a light touch of cashew. Gold medal Hunter Valley Wine Show 2009 and Sydney Wine Show 2010; Screwcap; 12.3% alc.; Rating 94; Drink 2013; $20; Date Tasted Feb 10 James Halliday
Gold Medal - Two Rivers Stone Throw Semillon As per usual, (this year and last year - which now qualifies as 'usual') I have spent the last two days tasting (and drinking) the wines that were submitted to the 2010 Macquarie Group Sydney Royal Wine Show (mouthful). As usual, it's a massive undertaking, with over 2200 different wines entered from several hundred wineries, but I took one for the team and attempted to taste as many relevant & interesting wines as I could. Gold medal; Two Rivers Stone Throw Semillon 2009 (Hunter Valley, NSW) Clean, grassy Semillon with rounded fruit flavours and a quite broad palate. Nice and generous though just a bit short for higher points. 16.5/88 Andrew Graham The Tasting (day 1) www.ozwinereview.com Sunday, February 14, 2010
Verdelho doesn't come much better Hidden Hive Hunter Valley Verdelho 2009 What a vintage '09 was: glorious fruit flavours and intensity across all white varieties, and this is no exception - really long, vibrant, fruit-filled finish. Verdelho doesn't come much better. Screwcap. 13.5% alc.; Rating 94; Drink 2013; $14; Date Tasted Feb 10 James Halliday Tasting Notes
